NO. 7 GRENADIERS DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO NO. 5 TENNESSEE WESLEYAN

ATHENS, Tenn. – The No. 7-ranked IU Southeast baseball team fell 6-2 and 10-0 to No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan on Sunday.

In game one, IU Southeast had the bases loaded in the top of the first but did not score. But in the second inning, the Grenadiers got on the board first when Daunte DeCello executed a hit-and-run perfectly with a single to right field which scored Brandon Boxer from first.

The Bulldogs (3-0) took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Livan Reinoso hit a solo home run to tie the game. Then Zach Hogueisson doubled and later scored on a RBI single by Cayle Webster.

Daunte DeCello tied the game with a solo home run to left to lead off the eighth inning. Trevor Campbell followed with a single but was stranded.

But the Bulldogs answered right back with a four-run bottom of the inning. A pair of RBI doubles, sacrifice bunt and a RBI single put the game in control of TWU.

Daunte DeCello and Brandon Boxer each had two hits and DeCello drove in two in the loss.

In game two, the Bulldogs opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Zach Hogueisson singled to score Carson Ford who had been hit by a pitch and stole second. A two-run single by Parker Stinnett made it 3-0.

A pair of unearned runs extended the lead to 5-0 in the third and a three-run fifth inning put the game away. Carson Ford hit a two-run home run in the inning for the Bulldogs.

IU Southeast travels to Sterlington, La for the 2022 Cajun Collision on Friday and Saturday.
