Grenadiers Defeat IUPUC 2-1 To Conclude Home Schedule

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Autumn Oehlstrom hit a solo home run and Issy Wright and McKenzie Rice combined to allow just one run on seven hits as iU Southeast defeated IUPUC 2-1 on Wednesday.

The Grenadiers opened the scoring when Autumn Oehlstrom hit a solo home run to right-center, her 11th home run of the season.

The Crimson Pride threatened to tie the game in the third when Taylor Hadley singled, stole second and moved to third on a single by Katie Taylor. Issy Wright was able to get a flyout by Morgan Stieneker to end the inning.

IU Southeast tacked on another run in the third when Oehlstrom doubled and then scored after Hadley dropped a fly ball by Savannah Gaither in center field.

The Crimson Pride cut the lead in half when Sydney Owens grounded out to pitcher McKenzie Rice and Elyse Goad scored.

But Rice retired Kaydence Brewer to end the game.

Savannah Gaither and Autumn Oehlstrom each went 2-for-3 in the win. McKenzie Rice allowed one run on three hits in four innings of relief while striking out three to earn her fifth win.

The Grenadiers head to Pittsburgh to take on Point Park and Carlow this weekend.
