Bass Fishing Caps Off Stellar Opening Season At Carhartt Bassmaster National Championship
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The IU Southeast club bass fishing team placed 30th out of 117 teams in the Carhartt Bassmaster National Championship at Tenkiller Lake from July 19-21.
The IU Southeast team of Gavin Lagle and Atom Ward placed above Indiana University Bloomington, the University of Wisconsin and Murray State University to name a few. They caught four fish for a total of 11.14 pounds which was good for 8th place after day one of competition. The Grenadiers did not advance to the top-12 after day two of competition.
In just their third event in team history, the bass fishing team concluded a remarkable run of summer tournament success with a top-30 finish against national competition. IU Southeast won the Indiana state qualifier in June to advance to the national championship.
