No. 22 IU Southeast Completes Three-Game Sweep of St. Ambrose

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team extended its winning streak to five-straight games with a doubleheader sweep of St. Ambrose 5-0 and 11-5 on Monday.

In game one, five IU Southeast pitchers combined for the shutout, led by starter Hunter Kloke. He worked five innings and allowed three hits while walking two and striking out six. The four Grenadier relievers allowed just one hit.

IU Southeast (5-0) got on the board in the bottom of the first and Clay Woeste was in the middle of the rally. He led off with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild throw from the catcher. A RBI groundout by Marco Romero brought him in to score.

The Grenadiers added another run in fourth and a three runs in the fifth. In the fourth, Tyler Mills was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on a balk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brody Tanksley.

In the fifth inning, John Ullom doubled and scored on single from Woeste. He stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Tyler Mills followed with a double and he moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on another Romero groundout.

Clay Woeste and Tyler Mills each had two hits and Marco Romero drove in two.

In game two, the Grenadiers jumped on the Fighting Bees with four runs in the opening inning. Clay Woeste singled and stole second. A bunt base hit by Mills put runners at first and third and Romero drew a walk to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Woeste and a two-run single by Trevor MacDonald made it 3-0. He would later score on a wild pitch.

A sacrifice fly by Ben Berenda added on another run in the third and a RBI double by Woeste and sac fly by Romero added a pair of runs in the fourth.

IU Southeast put three runs on a the board in fifth inning when Ethan Shafer singled to score Ullom and Alec Saulman. Marco Romero drove in Daunte Decello with a double.

IU Southeast had nine stolen bases in the game including a pair by MacDonald and Decello.

Trevor MacDonald had two hits and drove in three and Romero and Shafer each drove in two. Trevor Reynolds worked four innings and gave up three runs on five hits for his first win of the season.
