No. 18 Grenadiers Defeat Ohio Christian 10-0 Saturday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four Grenadiers had two-hits and starter Lane Oesterling had a complete-game, three-hit shutout as No. 18 IU Southeast defeated Ohio Christian 10-0 in seven innings on Saturday.

The Grenadiers (13-8, 4-0 RSC) opened the scoring with a four-run bottom of the first. Trevor Campbell had one of his two hits, driving in Clay Woeste with a RBI single.

Brody Tanksley followed with a RBI double to drive in Campbell. Marco Romero followed with an infield single and Tyler Mills scored on a throwing error. Then Romero scored on a RBI single by Brandon Boxer.

The Grenadiers added two more runs in the bottom of the second. Trevor Campbell singled again driving in Woeste who had also singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Trevor Campbell moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a RBI single by Tanksley.

Both offenses were quiet in the next couple of innings but IU Southeast added a pair of runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to end the game via run-rule.

In the fifth, Brandon Boxer walked and Blake Cook doubled to put runners in scoring position. A single to center by Ben Berenda knocked them in to extend the lead to 8-0.

In the seventh, Boxer led off with a home run to left-center, his second of the season. After Tyler Mills walked and a pair of flyouts, John Ullom triped to center to score Mills and end the game.

Lane Oesterling did not allow a hit until the third inning and struck out five and only walked one in the shutout win.

Clay Woeste had two hits and scored two runs to become the career runs scored leader in IU Southeast history. Trecor Campbell, Brody Tanksley and Brandon Boxer each had two hits and drove in two.

IU Southeast concludes the series with Ohio Christian tomorrow at 11 a.m.
