Grenadiers Cruise Past IUPUC 14-4 on Tuesday
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team scored 14 runs on 14 hits as they defeated IUPUC 14-4 in seven innings on Tuesday.
The Grenadiers struck for five runs in the bottom of the first. Mason White had a RBI single to score Alex Yurt and then Trevor Goodwin came through with a grand slam to extend the lead to 5-0.
After the Crimson Pride, cut the lead to 5-2 in the fifth, the Grenadiers responded with a six-run bottom of the inning.
Ben Berenda and Ryan Kassel had run-scoring doubles and Alex Yurt knocked in two with a single to left-center.
Trevor Campbell came through with a bases-clearing double to cap the rally.
In the sixth, Kody Putnam singled and Ben Berenda doubled to start the inning. Jackson Roseburrough followed with a two-run double and Kassel knocked in Roseburrough with a single.
Drew Switzer earned his second win with four no-hit, scoreless innings. He walked a pair and struck out six.
Ryan Kassel finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, Goodwin drove in four and Campbell, Putnam and Berenda each had two hits.
IU Southeast travels to Point Park on Friday and Saturday.
