Grenadiers Fall in RSC Championship
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The IU Southeast baseball team fell to Point Park in the RSC Championship games on Sunday.
In game one, Trevor Campbell finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. Ben Berenda hit a two-run home run, his sixth of the year, as part of a 2-for-3 day. Mason White and Trevor Campbell each had doubles in the loss.
In game two, Brayden Hazelwood got the Grenadiers on the board with a sacrifice fly to left to score Kody Putnam in the seventh. In the eighth, the Grenadiers put together a three-run rally. Slater Schield led off with a base hit and scored on a double down the left-field line by Campbell.
Kody Putnam laced a two-out single to center which drove in Campbell and he would later score on a passed ball.
Zak Rasener worked one and 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, surrendering two hits and recording a strikeout.
Kody Putnam was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI and Campbell scored a run and had a RBI. Slater Schield finished with a pair of hits and a run scored.
IU Southeast advanced to the conference championship game for the third-straight season.
