All-RSC Baseball Teams & Awards presented at RSC Championship

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- The 2023 All-River States Conference Baseball Teams & Awards were honored Thursday night at the RSC Baseball Championship at VA Memorial Stadium. The all-conference awards were voted on by the RSC baseball head coaches. 

The All-RSC First, Second & Honorable Mention Teams were selected this year along with the individual awards for RSC Baseball Player, Pitcher, Freshman and Coach of the Year. Also recognized are the RSC Gold Glove Team, the RSC Champions of Character Team and the RSC Baseball Scholar-Athlete Team.

The All-RSC First Teams includes four starting pitchers, one relief pitcher, two catchers, four infielders at first base, second base and third base and shortsop, four outfielders, a designated hitter and a utlility player. The All-RSC Second Team and Honorable Mention Team include the same with any ties on the second team at a position being included on the second team. No catchers were nominated for honorable mention.The Gold Glove team chosen the best defensive player at each position as voted by the coaches. 

The RSC Champions of Character team honors one player from each school who best displays the NAIA Champions of Character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship. 

The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team honors those with a 3.25 GPA or higher who have been at their school for at least two semesters. 

Ben Berenda, Trevor Campbell, and Mason White were named RSC First Team All-Conference as position players. The IU Southeast pitchers who earned first team honors were Tyler Yotkewich and Garrett Hill.

Luke Schafer, Lane Oesterling, Brayden Hazelwood and Trevor Goodwin were named honorable mention selections.

Four Grenadiers were named to the RSC Gold Glove team: Ben Berenda, Kody Putnam, Alex Yurt and Trevor Campbell.
