GRENADIERS FALL TO NO. 9 INDIANA WESLEYAN TUESDAY

MARION, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell to ninth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan 109-76 on Tuesday night.

Anthony Wales Jr. led IU Southeast with 19 points and five assists. Three other starters scored in double figures, including Jared Osborne and Glenn Hill with 16 points apiece and Caleb Brown with 10 points. 

The Grenadiers (1-3) took a quick 6-5 advantage with a three pointer by Hill, but a 7-0 run by Indiana Wesleyan put them ahead 12-6. A jumper by Wales Jr brought the Grenadiers within seven with 8:27 left in the first half, but Indiana Wesleyan answered with a three to put the lead back at double digits. The Grenadiers trailed at the half 52-37.

Indiana Wesleyan (5-1) only trailed once in the contest. The Wildcats led by as many as 40 in the second half and would go on to win 109-76.

In the second half, IU Southeast shot 46.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from three, but they could not take the lead as Indiana Wesleyan continued their hot shooting, shooting 64.5 percent from the field after the half.

Glenn Hill led the Grenadiers in scoring in the second half, adding 13 of his 16 points after halftime.

The Grenadiers hit nine of their 22 threes in the contest, shooting a respectable 40.9 percent from behind the arc. They also went 9-12 from the free throw line

The Grenadiers play the University of the Cumberlands in the Cumberlands Tournament on Thursday.
