GRENADIERS GROUND EAGLES 80-72 TUESDAY

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Glenn Hill had 27 points and 14 rebounds and Jared Osborne had 20 points while Anthony Wales Jr. and Jathan Ritter each chipped in with 11 points to lead IU Southeast past Midway 80-72 on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers and Eagles battled back and forth throughout the first half with neither team gaining much of an advantage. The Grenadiers opened the game by scoring the first seven points, which was their largest lead of the half, and the Eagles largest lead was four points.

There were seven ties in the first half alone. Midway led 36-33 with 2:16 to play but Caleb Brown tied the game with a three-pointer. After a Donnie Miller jumper gave the Eagles the lead again, Glenn Hill tied the game with a layup and then was fouled late in the half and hit both free-throws to give the Grenadiers a 40-38 lead at halftime.

He had 18 points and Jared Osborne had 10 to lead the Grenadiers in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half with game tied at 65, the Grenadiers finally put the Eagles away. Glenn Hill hit two free throws and then connected on a three-pointer. A steal by Osborne and layup extended the lead to 72-65. After another Midway turnover, Anthony Wales Jr. hit two free-throws.

The Eagles cut the deficit to 75-70 with 1:33 to play but Glenn Hill answered with a offensive rebounds and putback to push the lead back to seven points.

After a three-point attempt was missed by the Eagles,  Jared Osborne was fouled and hit both free throws to seal the game with 25 seconds to play, giving the Grenadiers a 79-70 advantage.

IU Southeast held Midway to just 30 percent shooting from behind-the-arc in the contest. The Grenadiers shot 54 percent from the field and were 8-of-16 from the perimeter in the game.

The Grenadiers travel to Campbellsville for a holiday tournament on Friday and Saturday.
