IU SOUTHEAST FALLS TO IU KOKOMO 80-70

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell 80-70 to IU Kokomo in a hard-fought contest on Saturday.

Glenn Hill scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Grenadiers, both team highs. Gabriel Casillas Cruz had 14 points and 6 rebounds in the contest. Jared Osborne and Caleb Brown each scored 10 points apiece.

IU Southeast (3-11, 2-3 RSC) held the lead for the majority of the first half. A Jathan Ritter three-pointer gave the Grenadiers their biggest lead in the first half at 22-15. A 4-0 run gave IU Kokomo a 29-27 lead later in the half, but IU Southeast responded with a 5-0 run to go back up by three. A Caleb Brown three-pointer gave the Grenadiers a 35-31 lead at the half.

Caleb Brown led the Grenadiers in scoring in the first half with 10. IU Southeast went 7-15 from behind the arc, hitting five more first half threes than IU Kokomo. Glenn HillJared Osborne and Jathan Ritter each finished the half with six points.

Glenn Hill opened the second half scoring five of the Grenadiers first seven points to give IU Southeast a 42-38 lead. IU Kokomo answered with a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the second half.

The back-and-forth scoring continued with IU Southeast taking a 49-47 lead. IU Kokomo responded by taking a 52-49 lead with 13:15 remaining in the game, a lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the contest.

IU Kokomo led by 12 with a minute to go, but back-to-back layups from Gabriel Casillas Cruz brought the lead to single digits once again. IU Kokomo sank a pair of free throws on the next possession and went on to win 80-70.

The Grenadiers shot 37.5 percent from the field and went 9-26 from behind the arc. IU Southeast hit 13 of their 14 free throw attempts, all coming in the second half.

IU Southeast hosts Oakland City on Tuesday.
