STRONG SECOND HALF PROPELS IU SOUTHEAST TO 71-60 VICTORY OVER OAKLAND CITY

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A 45-point second half led the IU Southeast men's basketball team to a 71-60 victory over Oakland City on Tuesday.

Glenn Hill led the Grenadiers with 22 points and eight rebounds. Jared Osborne scored 17 points, and Anthony Wales Jr added 14 points in the victory.

Both teams started out slow offensively. With 7:50 left in the first half, Oakland City led 14-10. IU Southeast (4-11, 3-3 RSC) answered with back-to-back threes by Gabriel Casillas Cruz to take a 16-14 lead.

The Grenadiers extended their lead to 22-15 on a jumper from Anthony Wales Jr. A 10-2 run gave Oakland City a one-point lead, but two Jared Osborne free throws gave IU Southeast a 26-25 advantage going into the half.

Oakland City opened the second half with a 5-0 run to take 30-26 lead. Down 33-31, IU Southeast went on a 9-0 run to take a seven-point advantage. Glenn Hill scored 12 of the next 15 Grenadier points, giving IU Southeast a 56-49 lead with 5:26 to play.

IU Southeast's lead never fell below seven for the rest of the game. The Grenadiers led by as many as 13 late in the second half and went on to win 71-60.

Glenn Hill scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the second half. Hill went 7-12 from the field, 2-2 from three and 6-9 from the free throw line. Anthony Wales Jr and Jared Osborne each had eight points and four assists in the second half.

The Grenadiers shot 44.8 percent from the field in the game, including 10-24 from three-point range. IU Southeast had 12 steals as a team and scored 22 points off 18 Oakland City turnovers.

IU Southeast returns to action December 29 at home vs Bethel University.
