GRENADIERS FALL 71-68 TO MIDWAY

MIDWAY, Ky. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell 71-68 to Midway in a game that saw neither team lead by more than six points.

All five IU Southeast starters scored in double digits. Jared Osborne led the way with 19 points and six assists. Gabriel Casillas Cruz had 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Glenn Hill also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ahmad Price and Anthony Wales Jr. scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

IU Southeast (6-14, 4-5 RSC) went on an early 7-0 run to take a 10-7 lead. Midway (10-5, 4-4 RSC) answered with a 6-0 run to take a 13-10 advantage. Neither team was able to extend their lead to more than three points for the majority of the first half. Anthony Wales Jr. hit two free throws to give the Grenadiers a three-point lead late in the half. Midway was able to respond with a three-pointer to tie the game at 31-31 going into halftime.

The Grenadiers were well-balanced in the first half. All starters scored at least four points, and none of the five players had more than eight. The Grenadiers were able to get to the free-throw line 14 times but were only able to connect on eight of their attempts.

IU Southeast took the lead back on a three-pointer by Anthony Wales Jr to open the second half. The Grenadiers held the lead until Midway used a 5-0 run to tie the game at 59-59 with 5:03 left. Undeterred, IU Southeast kept scoring, taking a 65-61 lead on a three-pointer by Jared Osborne with 4:04 remaining. Midway responded with a quick 5-0 run to take their first lead of the second half with 2:03 left in the contest.

Jared Osborne connected on three of his four free throws on back-to-back possessions to give the Grenadiers a 68-66 lead with 50 seconds left in the contest. Midway answered on the next possession with an old fashioned three-point play to take the lead back at 69-68. Two free throws with five seconds remaining gave Midway a 71-68 lead, and IU Southeast got the ball with a chance to tie. The Grenadiers missed the game-tying three pointer at the buzzer, falling to Midway 71-68.

The Grenadiers shot 38.3 percent from the field in the game, including going 6-20 from behind the arc. IU Southeast went 16-23 from the free throw line. The difference in the game was bench points. Midway's bench outscored the Grenadier bench 23-0 in the contest.

The Grenadiers return home to take on Miami-Middletown on Saturday
