EFFICIENT OFFENSE LEADS IU SOUTHEAST TO 96-72 VICTORY OVER POINT PARK

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team moved to above .500 in RSC play for the first time this season with a 96-72 victory over Point Park.

The Grenadiers had six players score in double figures in the contest. Ahmad Price and Jathan Ritter each scored 15 to lead IU Southeast. Price also led the Grenadiers with nine assists. Glenn Hill had 14 points, Jared Osborne added 13 and the duo of Anthony Wales Jr. and Jaren Starks scored 11 points apiece.

IU Southeast (9-14, 6-5 RSC) trailed at 2-0 and 5-2, but quickly took a 10-5 advantage after an 8-0 run and subsequently never trailed again. Leading 23-18 with 7:39 remaining in the first half, the Grenadiers used a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 14 at 32-18. A trio of three pointers in the last two minutes gave IU Southeast a 45-27 lead going into halftime.

Ahmad Price led the Grenadiers in scoring in the first half, putting up 11 points on 4-5 shooting. Jathan Ritter also scored in double digits in the first half, hitting a trio of three pointers and a free throw to give him 10 points. IU Southeast shot 16-28 before halftime, including 9-16 from behind the arc.

The second half was all IU Southeast. Leading by 21 early in the second half, the Grenadiers used a 12-0 run to take a 67-34 lead. Later in the second half, Jathan Ritter hit a jumper to give IU Southeast its largest lead of the game at 78-37. Point Park closed the game on a 14-2 run, but the Grenadiers still cruised to a 96-72 win for their third straight victory.

Glenn Hill scored all 14 of his points in the second half, hitting five of his seven shot attempts and all three of his free throws. Jaren Starks scored eight points on 3-4 shooting after halftime, hitting two of his three shots from long range.

The Grenadiers shot 54.8 percent from the field in the game and connected on 17 of their 32 three-point attempts. The IU Southeast bench outscored the Park Point bench 34-14. The Grenadiers converted 14 Point Park turnovers into 23 points.

IU Southeast hosts Carlow University on Saturday.
