IU SOUTHEAST DEFEATS ALICE LLOYD 82-70 TO HAND EAGLES FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Alice Lloyd 82-70, handing the Eagles their first RSC loss of the season.

Anthony Wales Jr. led the Grenadiers in scoring with 20 points and added six assists in the contest. Ahmad Price added 16 points on an efficient 8-10 shooting. Starters Jared Osborne and Glenn Hill each added 15 points in the contest. Hill also brought down a team-high 10 rebounds. Jathan Ritter scored 10 points off the bench. Gabriel Casillas Cruz flirted with a triple double, scoring six points while dishing out six assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

IU Southeast (11-14, 8-5 RSC) took an early 7-5 lead on a three from Jared Osborne. The teams traded baskets for much of the first half, with neither team leading by more than five before halftime. After Alice Lloyd hit a jumper to take a 31-28 lead, the Grenadiers responded with a 6-0 run to take a 34-31 lead going into halftime.

The IU Southeast offense was evenly distributed in the first half, with five different Grenadiers scoring five or more points. Ahmad Price and Glenn Hill led the way for the Grenadiers with eight points each before halftime. Gabriel Casillas Cruz had five assists and five rebounds in the first half.

An Anthony Wales Jr. three gave the Grenadiers a 49-41 lead early in the second half. After Alice Lloyd cut the lead to four at 52-48, the Grenadiers responded with an 8-0 run to take the game's first double digit lead at 60-48. IU Southeast kept their foot on the gas, using a 6-0 run to take their largest lead of the game at 73-57.

The Grenadiers would lead by double digits for the rest of the game, defeating Alice Lloyd 82-70. Alice Lloyd was 20-1 overall coming into the contest, including a perfect 11-0 in conference play. The first of those RSC victories came at the expense of the Grenadiers, when Alice Lloyd overcame a late deficit to win 75-74.

The Grenadiers shot 46.9 percent from the field, including connecting on 10 of their 27 three-point attempts. Turnovers were a key component in the win, as IU Southeast won the turnover battle 14-5. The Grenadiers scored 24 of their points off those 14 Alice Lloyd turnovers.

The Grenadiers, winners of five straight, return home to take on Brescia on Saturday.
