Matt Coomer Resigns As IU Southeast Tennis Coach
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Matt Coomer has resigned as IU Southeast tennis coach to take over as head coach at Indiana Tech.
Coomer led the Grenadiers for the 2022 spring season. The men's program finished the season with a 7-12 record and were 2-3 in conference play. The Grenadier women were 5-10 and 2-5 in the RSC.
"I want to thank Coach Coomer for guiding our tennis programs this spring," said Amanda Dailey-Weaver, interim director of athletics. "He navigated the programs through a difficult period and ensured all our student-athletes would continue to compete and develop."
Both tennis teams qualified for the River States Conference Tennis Championships and the Grenadier men's team advanced to the semifinals of the tournament. The IU Southeast women's tennis team will be recognized as an ITA Scholar Team and NAIA Scholar Team when those awards are announced later this year.
"Thank you to the University for allowing me to return to my alma mater and help guide the tennis program through its period of transition," Coomer said.
A national search for his replacement will begin immediately.
