MARIAN, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team dropped 5-3 and 14-0 decisions to No. 16 Marian on Thursday.
In game one, Shelbie Stotts hit a solo home run to center in the bottom of the first as the Knights jumped out in front.
Marian (15-2) added to its lead in the third when Savannah Harweger hit a solo home run to right-center. After a single and a groundout, Sierra Norman singled to drive in Jenna Minnix.
The Knights took a 4-0 lead when Abbi Wirey hit a home run in the fourth.
IU Southeast (8-13) got on the board in the sixth when Macie Zink reached on a fielder's choice and drove in Lindsey Nelson from third. With runners at second and third and two outs, Miranda Miller doubled to right-center to cut the deficit to one.
But the Knights answered in the bottom of the inning when Emma Maple homered to pad the lead.
The Grenadiers were retired in order in the seventh to end the contest.
Miranda Miler had two hits and two RBI in the loss.
In game two, the Knights scored in every inning and put the game away with four runs in the first and three more in each of the second and third innings.
Shelbie Stotts and Abbi Wirey each hit two-run home runs in the game.
IU Southeast hosts Ohio Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m.
