Grenadiers Fall To No. 12 Lindsey Wilson

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 12 Lindsey Wilson 15-5 and 8-4 on Monday

In game one, the Blue Raiders jumped out to a comfortable lead with a seven-run first inning. Kylie Brown was hit by a pitch to drive in the game's first run. A two-run single by Alexis Garayzar followed. Zakiya Sizemore had a RBI single and Mikayla Marquez capped off the rally with a three-run double.

IU Southeast scratched across a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning when Miranda Miller came through with the bases loaded. She hit a grounder to second and the throw by Makea-Al Kaluau went into left field as she tried to get the force at second. Hannah Nunemaker and Katie Cook scored to cut the lead to 8-2.

IU Southeast added three rusn in the fourth. Katie Templeman led off with a double and scored on a RBI double by Miller. Lindsey Nelson reached base on an error and Macie Zink drove both runners in with a double.

The Blue Raiders scored in every inning and 15 runs on 14 hits in the contest.

Katie Templeman had two hits in the loss.

In game two, back-to-back RBI doubles by Ellie Derrick and Kylie Brown made it 2-0 in the top of the first.

In the third, Derrick hit a two-run home run to left-center to double the Blue Raider lead.

In the fifth, Brown hit a two-run home to left-center.

IU Southeast began to chip away in the bottom of the inning with a two-out rally. Miranda Miller doubled and scored on a RBI double by Ellie Jackman.

Kylie Brown hit her second home run of the day in the seventh, a solo home run to extend the lead to 8-1.

Ellie Jackman responded with a three-run home run of her own in the bottom of the inning, her fifth of the year.

The Grenadiers got runners on the corners but a groundout ended the game.

Ellie Jackman and Lindsey Nelson each went 2-for-4 and Jackman drove in all four runs in the loss. Miranda Miller had two hits.

IU Southeast travels to Midway University Friday at 2 p.m.
