Grenadiers Defeat Ohio Christian 69-58 in RSC Matchup
The Grenadiers scored the first two baskets of the game, but Ohio Christian responded with a 12-0 run to jump ahead 12-4. IU Southeast finished the quarter with 12 straight points of their own to take an 18-12 lead.
IU Southeast used a layup by Karly Sweeney to extend their lead to eight at 24-16, but the Trailblazers cut the lead to three at 24-21 following a 5-0 run. An Ohio Christian three made it a three point game once again at 30-27, but the Grenadiers closed the half on a 5-0 run to take a 35-27 lead into halftime.
The third quarter began with a Leah Miller three to give the Grenadiers a 38-27 advantage. The Grenadiers led by as many as 13 in the third quarter. Trailing 47-34, Ohio Christian used a 14-4 run to narrow the Grenadier lead to three at 51-48. A Lauren Lambdin three gave the Grenadiers a 54-48 lead after three quarters.
An Ohio Christian layup cut the Grenadier lead to four to start the fourth quarter, but a Brynna Blackburn three and a Sierra Graham layup extended the IU Southeast lead back to nine at 59-50. An 8-0 run later in the fourth gave IU Southeast a 67-53 lead. The lead remained in double digits for the rest of the quarter, and IU Southeast secured a 69-58 conference victory.
Lauren Lambdin led the Grenadiers with 23 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Sierra Graham scored 17 points and tied Lambdin for the team lead with seven rebounds. Leah Miller scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and led IU Southeast with four assists. Brynna Blackburn scored six points and added five rebounds.
IU Southeast moved to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Grenadiers travel to Rio Grande on Saturday for another RSC matchup.
