Women’s Tennis Sweeps Brescia, Falls To IU East
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's tennis team swept Brescia 5-0 Saturday before falling 5-2 to IU East on Sunday.
Against Brescia, the Grenadiers jumped out to a quick lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Anna Littlefield and Katie Weimer won 6-4 and Emma Ellis and Elana Hamby won 6-0.
In singles play, Anna Littlefield won via a retirement while Katie Weimer battled back after dropping the first set to 5-7, 6-2, 11-9.
Emma Ellis won at No. 3 singles 6-2 and 6-0 and Elana Hamby cruised 6-0, 6-1.
Against IU East on Sunday, the Grenadiers dropped the doubles point 6-2 and 6-3.
The Red Wolves won at No. 1, 2 and 5 and 6 singles to win the match. But Emma Ellis won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while Elana Hamby won 7-5, 6-3.
IU Southeast travels to Pikeville on April 11.
