GRENADIERS SWEEP OHIO CHRISTIAN FRIDAY
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Emilee Organ had 11 kills, Santina Schembra had five aces and the Grenadiers hit .312 en route to a 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 sweep of Ohio Christian on Friday.
The Grenadiers (11-9, 7-3 RSC) led 9-5 to open the first set and used an 11-5 run to take a commanding 20-10 lead. IU Southeast was aided by six errors during that stretch by Ohio Christian.
A late run by the Trailblazers cut the lead to 23-18 but a service error and an attack error secured the first set for the Grenadiers.
In the second set, neither team could pull away until the Grenadiers closed the period on a 9-0 run. Santina Schembra served the final eight points of the set and recorded four-straight aces. A kill by Macy Graves forced set point and an attack error gave the Grenadiers a two sets to none lead.
Emilee Organ had four kills apiece in the each of the first two sets.
In the third set, the Grenadiers saw their comfortable lead cut to 16-12 after a pair of attack errors. A kill and ace by Emilee Organ restored the lead at 18-12 and the Grenadiers put the set out of reach with a quick three-point burst later in the period: two OCU attack errors sandwiched around a kill by Audrey LaMaster extended the lead to 23-16.
After a service error, LaMaster won the match with a kill, one of her six on the night.
After Organ's team-leading 11 kills, LaMaster followed with six kills and Macy Graves and Izzy Stallard each had five. Lexie Fisher had 19 digs and three Grenadiers recorded double-figure assists: Hannah Brown (13), Brandy Eisenback (12) and Cate Murphy (10).
