GRENADIERS SWEEP OHIO VALLEY IN FINALE OF RSC HOMESTAND

NEW ALBANY, Ind – A well-balanced attack sparked IU Southeast to a 25-11, 25-21, 25-15 victory over Ohio Valley on Saturday.

The Grenadiers saw 14 different players add at least one kill in the match, led by Emilee Organ with nine. Alexis Franks had six kills and Jennie Malone added four in the win.

IU Southeast (12-9, 8-3 RSC) never trailed in the first set. With a 10-7 lead, the Grenadiers used a 9-0 run to distance themselves from Ohio Valley (1-12, 1-11 RSC). The 9-0 run saw three aces from Malone and two kills from Organ. The Grenadiers would go on to win the first set 25-11 on a kill by Abigail Vogel.

IU Southeast saw kills by six different Grenadiers in the first set, led by Organ with three. Brandy Eisenback served up two aces to make it five total aces for the Grenadiers in the first.

The second set was tightly contested to start as the two teams were deadlocked at 6-6 after the first 12 points. IU Southeast then went on a 5-0 run to take a 11-6 lead, and they never trailed for the remainder of the set. Ohio Valley made it close, but the Grenadiers went on to win the second set 25-21, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

The second set once again saw kills from six different Grenadiers, led by Organ with four. Alexis Franks added three kills of her own and Averee Yoder served up two aces in the second set victory.

The third set saw Ohio Valley jump out to a quick 10-7 advantage. IU Southeast responded with an 8-0 run to take a 15-10 lead. Yoder added four more aces to her total in the eight-point stretch. With a 17-13 lead, the Grenadiers went on another long run to extend their lead to 24-13. IU Southeast would win the third and final set 25-15 on a kill by Jessi Kramer.

Hannah Brown and Cate Murphy led the Grenadiers with 10 assists apiece. Lexie Fisher added 17 digs to lead the team. IU Southeast had 12 aces as a team with Yoder leading the way with six. Malone had three aces, Eisenback had two and Murphy had one to round out the well-balanced attack.

IU Southeast travels to Point Park University on Friday for a 7 PM matchup.
