GRENADIERS SWEEP ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS ON SATURDAY

ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – IU Southeast defeated St. Mary-of-the-Woods in three sets 25-14, 25-22, 25-19 on Saturday.

Emilee Organ and Macy Graves led the Grenadiers with seven kills and Makendri Fisher added six in the victory.

With the teams tied 5-5 in the first set, IU Southeast (14-11, 10-5 RSC) used a 9-0 run to jump out to a 14-5 lead. Graves had three of her four first-set kills in the 9-0 run and Cate Murphy added two aces for the Grenadiers. The Grenadiers would go on to win the first set 25-14.

The second set saw the Grenadiers jump out to a quick 4-0 lead on two kills from Jennie Malone, one kill from Organ and an ace from Averee Yoder. IU Southeast extended their lead to 21-14, but a 4-0 run from St. Mary-of-the-Woods (11-13, 6-10 RSC) brought the lead to just three at 21-18. SMWC brought it to within two, but the Grenadiers took the second set 25-22 on a kill by Organ.

Malone and Organ each added four kills in the second set. Yoder added an ace and Delaney Nichols, Graves and Makendri Fisher all had two kills apiece to lead IU Southeast to the set victory.

IU Southeast quickly erased an early third set SMWC lead with a 5-0 run, which provided the Grenadirs with a lead that they would not give up. The Grenadiers took a 22-10 advantage before SMWC brought the lead to within five at 23-18. A kill by Nichols gave the third set to IU Southeast 25-19 and secured the match for the Grenadiers.

The third set saw nine different Grenadiers record a kill, with Makendri Fisher and Alexis Franks each recording four apiece. Three different Grenadiers recorded an ace in the set, led by Hannah Brown with two

Cate Murphy had 25 of IU Southeast's 38 assists. The three-set victory saw five different Grenadiers record double digit digs, led by Lexie Fisher with 30. IU Southeast recorded seven aces in the match.

IU Southeast hosts Asbury University for Senior Night on Tuesday.
