Bio
Brian enters his sixth season as head volleyball coach at IU Southeast. He took the Grenadiers to KIAC Championship match appearances in each of his first two seasons. IU Southeast had not appeared in the championship match since 2007.
Eric Brian is from Louisville, KY. He attended Eastern High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky where he played Club Volleyball. His team finished in the Sweet 16 and NIRSA Nationals. He was the President of the Club for his remaining three years. Brian then attended the University of Louisville, earning both his Master's Degree and Ph. D. in Psychology.
Coach Brian began coaching in 2003 by helping with a 5th/6th grade basketball team at his grade school Alma Mater, Our Savior Lutheran School. There he quickly moved up to take the 7th & 8th grade team. In his final year there, he led the team to a 20-4 season, undefeated at home, and capped the season with the school's first and only annual Roundball Classic Tournament Championship. Two members were voted to the All-Tournament team, and the center was voted Tournament MVP.
He began coaching high school boy's volleyball at Trinity High School in 2004. Since then, he coached both boys and girls junior club volleyball for Club ELE, and helped expand the Union Volleyball Club into the east end of Louisville. Most recently, Coach Brian began coaching at his High School Alma Mater, Eastern High School. After one year with the junior varsity, he took the reigns of the varsity program in 2010, leading them to a 25-9 season and a District Championship. Currently, he is still with Union Volleyball Club helping with several teams from 14s to 18s.
In 2015, Brian was named the department's academic coordinator. He will be the liaison between the athletic department and the University's academic advising department. He will also run the athletic department's tutor voucher program as well as study tables.
